How to create your own article directory

You may easily design your own article directory using the provided templates. This can be for a directory that is all-inclusive or for your particular area of expertise. That's exactly what I did two months ago. I discovered a WordPress theme for an article directory for just $65 online. I made the decision to try it.

I changed one of my already-existing WordPress blogs because the name looked ideal for a directory. I had neglected this website, which was receiving almost little traffic. I installed the template system using their setup instructions, which was rather simple to do. At least for the time being, I preserved their conventional design.

I made the decision to create mine an all-encompassing, general article directory. Yours might just as well be tailored to your own market segment. To find out what I wanted to use for categories, I visited Dmoz.org and a number of significant content directories.

I established my standards for accepting articles. This will be covered in a subsequent post.

On a Saturday afternoon, I began this. I didn't need any specialized development knowledge to create an operational article directory by the end of the weekend. I now have a directory of articles. I now needed visitors and articles.

I discovered that there is a vibrant blogging community that discusses article marketing. I searched for recent blog entries and started leaving comments. Visitor traffic and articles started to arrive quite quickly.

The website has grown from the over 20 articles I "seeded" it with to over 280 items after two months, up from over 100 articles. Every week, there is an increase in the number of visitors.

I do reject a lot of papers because of issues with the grammar, evident plagiarism, etc. Nevertheless, I do receive more than 50% of high-quality, unique (or primarily original) pieces. I set up the Copyscape plug-in, which enables me to quickly verify whether an item is original.

The one word of caution I will offer is that maintaining a schedule for examining and approving articles requires time commitment. You'll note that I haven't posted anything here for the previous two to three weeks because I've been concentrating on the article directory website. To maintain quality and cut down on time, I continue to shorten the approval procedure.
