How to install Google Analytics on the website

Registering with Google and creating a tracker

Go to the site and create a new account. If the profile already exists, then simply enter the relevant information.

Now you need to clarify what exactly you want to track: a website or a mobile application. After that, you need to specify the name of the account, the website and its URL.

In the "Industry" section, select the category from the list that best suits your resource. Then set the reporting timezone.

It is not recommended to uncheck automatically checked boxes in the functions of granting access to data:

- "Google products and services" allow the search engine to use general information to improve the service.

- "Comparison" expands the capabilities of the portal owner, making it possible to quickly analyze trends without identifying specific sites.

- "Technical support" gives Google specialists access to your profile to quickly resolve any technical problems.

- "Account Specialists" will provide your online platform with valuable recommendations for proper promotion. Do you agree that it's stupid not to accept help from real pros?

Now it remains only to click on the "Get Tracking ID" button and accept the Google Analytics Terms of Use Agreement.

Analytics provides for the creation of up to 100 accounts. This is convenient for those who have many work and personal sites, if you have access to the administrative panel, all information about them will be in one place.

That's all - the Google Analytics tracker has been created and is available in the "Tracking code" section, however, before installing it, we recommend that you adjust the tool's parameters to suit your own needs.

Setting up a tracking system in the "Resource" category

The corresponding tab allows you to expand the capabilities of the informer, as well as disable options that you do not need.

Find the Advertiser Features category and enable demographic reporting to get interest and omnichannel data. The service will also provide you with information about the age and gender of your priority clients. Please note that you cannot create more than 2,000 remarketing audiences per account.

Remarketing Audiences are lists of cookies that match a group of target audiences with a potentially high conversion rate. They are created based on the actions of visitors, showing who it is appropriate to re-show ads.

If you want to get detailed information about internal links, be sure to enable the "Use improved link attribution" feature, which is contained in the "Page statistics" tab. Once you decide to install Google Analytics on your site and set up the option mentioned above, you will see not only the overall click statistics, but also data for each URL, button, and other element on the page. To connect the option, you need to install the Page Analytics plugin for Chrome.

Leave everything else (using the built-in mode recommended by the search engine and including user data) unchanged as the checkboxes are already in the right places.

The "Resource Settings" tab also allows you to connect many useful tools. For example, by interacting with an AdWords profile, the analyzer will collect information about user behavior after an impression or click. This means that you will know exactly what share of traffic AdWords brought in, and you will be able to optimize the page and ad if necessary.

View settings

Here, the account owner should specify the appropriate currency, later it will be displayed in the reports. Immediately after installation, the user is prompted to enter a description and details about the goal, all this will form the basis for analyzing the effectiveness.

Content groups

Useful for those who want to combine specific materials or group pages according to certain criteria: extracts, tracking code, and set rules.

They provide the ability to modify as well as narrow the collection of information. There are built-in tools to include (exclude) traffic from an IP address, from the provider's domain, to a specific host, and to specific subdirectories.

Channel settings

In the “Channel group” subsection, you can easily change the referral channels, and in the next category, you can divide traffic sources into regular and branded ones, that is, queries with the company name. This way you can study the ROI of different keywords to improve your campaign.

An extremely useful feature for online stores that provides reports on related products and customer behavior at each stage of the transaction.
