How to move your site to the top of Google search?

For those who are good at SEO, at least at the basics of SEO this will be quite easy to do. To move your site to the top of Google search, you need a good SEO strategy.

It's very difficult to get a brand new site straight to the top of the rankings in a very competitive amount of time. But the first thing you should do is to consider your keywords and target audience.

Choose the right audience

Choosing a keyword is as easy as describing your business. You can get a pretty accurate selection of keywords just by explaining what your company offers in a way that people type when searching the web. To find the visitors that are perfect for your business, create the perfect customer avatar.

Making a customer portrait is an exercise that will help you meet your customer's needs on a more personal level. As you go through this exercise, age, profession, gender, marital status, and many personal defining attributes are set. This will bring you closer to a deeper understanding of how this person thinks, what matters most to them, and how you can relate to them on a much deeper level than just describing your product.

Evaluate the competition

One of the main ranking factors you need to consider is backlinks and the authority your competitor has. For example, such a keyword as “learn SMM”, can be of a great competition so you will see that the first three results are sites that have been around for years and each one has thousands of backlinks pointing to its page.

These domains are also considered authoritative domains and major influencers in the SEO industry. It would take quite some time to build up enough authority to be able to outrank these sites for a competitive keyword like this. This does not mean that you will completely abandon this term, however, you will need to be more strategic in your choice of keywords.

Reduce the power of your competitors by using long tail keywords to get more specific information about your target audience and traffic. Let’s have an example here. Here we have "learn SMM" as a competitive keyword. We can just replace it by a similar phrase "learn social media marketing in a month". This helps you to reduce the competition.

Longer search terms tend to convert at a faster rate because they fit better with your content. The more specific key phrase you use, the more specific the intent of the visitors who come to your site.

Public content

When the goal is Google's first page, shared content will help propel your site to the top, bringing more people to your page and giving your content a better chance of being linked to other sites. The number of referring domains linked to your page increases your rankings, and while social shares are not a direct ranking factor, they give your page a larger audience and a better chance of being linked to more websites.

Publishing shared content means creating pages that people love to read and also find value in what is on offer. Great content means it is highly relevant to its audience. If you've done your keyword research carefully, you should be able to come up with a few questions or concerns that are common to your target audience. By offering a solution to these problems, you increase the value of your content, as well as its public accessibility.

Post your content on social media to get as much traffic as possible on your website. Use a call to action and ask people to share your content. Social sharing plugins make it easy for people to share your page across their network.

Outperform competition pages

To outperform competing pages, you need to look at the top ten results for your particular keyword. Pay attention to the length of the article, the type of media used, the topics covered and the links they have acquired in order to beat them in every imaginable way.

Google prefers longer articles

Article length is not a direct ranking factor, but it does affect the length of time a visitor spends on your page. It is also an identifier for the depth that a particular page offers for a particular search term. If you look at the average length of the top 10 results on Google, you will notice that the average length of a top-ranking page is over 2,000 words.

Use multimedia for a better user experience

Video improves dwell time and is the preferred choice when learning a topic by most users. Include a video at the top of your page to grab your visitors right away. Combine videos with other forms of media to create deeper levels of understanding while increasing your reader's engagement rate.

Increase CTR with better titles and meta descriptions

Your page click through rate will affect your first page rank. You can improve your CTR by creating headlines that grab the attention of your audience. Use established title strategies to increase the percentage of clicks your page receives in search results.

Your meta description also plays a role in determining your click through rate. Write a compelling description of what a potential reader will expect if they go to your site. This is a sneak preview, so put 160 characters to work to entice your audience.

Reduce the competition with paid advertising

You should consider this option if you are able to capitalize on traffic from a high converting keyword. For more competitive terms that you can't rank in the short term, you can get on the first page of Google with Google Ads.

If you have products that sell and just need to get them in front of more eyes, a PPC campaign is an option that will make you money by instantly increasing your search visibility for highly competitive terms.

Optimization for SERP

The search engine results page is a dynamic landscape that is constantly changing according to search intent. You can take advantage of some of the features that appear in SERPs to improve your search visibility and appear on the first page of Google.

Recommended code pieces

To appear in this feature, your page must be the best answer to the request. The featured snippet is where your site should appear first on Google because it's the first thing a user will see in a search result.

Here are some tips to claim this feature:

- Your site should already be on the first page;

- Target long-tail keywords;

- Use h-tags for all your headings;

To win a position, note what the current fragment owner did to reach that top position and duplicate the optimization.

Help your website climb on the first page of search results

It's not always the most obvious solution, but there are many different ways you can get your site on the first page of Google. Search engine optimization is simply finding the best way to present your site to people who are looking for what you have to offer.

Determine a keyword strategy that makes sense for your site. If you're new to developing a site, you may need to consider options that take the influence of the industry and major competitors out of the equation.

Evaluate the SERP and the options available to you so that your site appears first in Google. There are many ways to get your site in front of an audience that will engage with your content if you are looking for the right places to drive traffic.
