How visitors interact with the website: the psychological habits of users

Websites have existed for more than a dozen years, and during this time, Internet users have developed well-established habits of interacting with websites. If they are not taken into account when creating your page, then you can lose customers who decide not to understand a bunch of buttons, links and pop-ups. What are these habits and how to use them for your site, we will tell in this article.

Main gadget

The audience is used to certain gadgets in their lives and will obviously not change them for the sake of your site. For example, one smartphone is enough for some people for all their purposes, and if such people suddenly need your services, then it is important that your site is displayed correctly on small screens. If this is missed, then some of the customers will simply go to those who thought about the mobile version of the site in advance. Therefore, it is better to create an adaptive website that will be convenient on any device.

Usual places

We are used to the fact that all sections can be found in the site menu, which is at the top of the page, and that if you scroll down, there will be a footer with contacts at the bottom. If this is changed, then we will be disoriented in the space of the site. Therefore, it is better not to change some aspects in the interface, otherwise the user will not find what he needs in the usual place and decide that this does not exist at all and leave.

Review a few sites in your niche that are popular with customers and note the successful solutions for yourself. It would even be appropriate to create a survey and launch it in advertising to collect feedback on what is convenient on the sites of your colleagues and what can be improved. This will give you more hypotheses to test.

Quick order

Some online stores on their own prevent the client from buying something from them. If you go to their site, you will be met at the beginning by the manager's chat that opens, then a pop-up window with a callback order, after which a second window with a time-limited offer will open. And when a person already gets to the basket and adds a product, they persistently try to sell him more products from the category “they buy with this product”. As a result, the purchase fails.

Turn off all those intrusive marketing tools on your order pages. This distracts the user and does not help him in the choice. Separately, it is worth noting that the ordering process itself is often delayed by filling out a large questionnaire and complex order formation. This also requires simplification.

Logical sequence

Most online stores have a logical sequence when ordering. Initially, a person selects a product, adds it to the cart, gets acquainted with the options for delivery or pickup, fills out a questionnaire with data, and then pays. This is a standard scheme that is familiar and convenient to everyone. If you make changes to it, then this will become additional stress for the consumer and the order may end.

For example, if you swap the form to fill out and the delivery information, then the audience will be repelled. Few people want to risk their data and waste time filling in to get standard information. Moreover, it is not necessary to talk about delivery after payment. You may not have options that are convenient for the client, and then he will get extra stress, because the goods have already been paid for, and it is not known how to comfortably receive them.

F and Z attention per page

Most Internet users get to know websites by glancing at the dots of the letters F and Z. This mainly concerns the text component. Try to arrange important information and site elements so that they intersect with these points. If you interest the user at this stage, then most likely he will delve into the site further.

Outcome

It is not always necessary to change what works well and has been formed for many years. User habits even somewhat simplify the creation of sites, as it becomes clear what and where the user will expect. Keep in mind how the audience uses the sites now and then you will be able to create an effective and converting page.
